Gabrielle Willis is smart. She's funny. And oh yes, she's a bit klutzy.
When Gabrielle left sunny California bound for the energy of Manhattan, she was willingly leaving the life she had known for the new life she would create. But was she really leaving something behind or was she running away?
On the outside, Gabrielle Willis has it all under control. A new life in Manhattan, a great roommate, and a good job. But she is haunted. Haunted by a memory she's tried to forget and by a family who's abandoned her. But what happens when what's on the outside is only an illusion and in perfect contradiction to what's buried deep within?
Enter Dane Rhodes. He's gorgeous, smart, and sexy as hell. Just what Gabby wants, or so she thinks. But when she meets Brad Dixon, the sweet guy with the crooked smile, he begins to make her see that the very thing she is trying to run from is the very thing that just may push her to see the light.
Gabby was deeply in love with her high school sweetheart, Clark, and they were looking forward to a bright future together, until it's all taken away by a car accident. Three years later and Gabby lives and works in New York with her best friend, Fran, but she's not let go of Clark and she still misses him desperately.
When the delicious Dane appears in her life, he seems to be exactly what Gabby wants. But then the cute and funny Brad, is looking more appealing with every day...
One of my favourite things about Gabby was that she was so darned relatable, she's a normal girl. She embarrasses herself regularly, melts in the face of Dane's sexiness and is really fun. Unfortunately she loses herself in her grief and sadness sometimes, although Fran is usually there to pull her out. She needs someone to show her that she can't let her fears hold her back.
Brad is incredibly sweet and sexy, add in a great sense of humour and we've got a perfect guy! He's so understanding and patient for Gabby, he can be the rock she needs- despite the tragedy in his own past. The way he works to get behind her defences and into her heart made my heart smile!
Despite the distraction that is Dane (the guy is sex on legs), Brad and Gabby's relationship develops slowly and sweetly. Their friendship grows and develops into a beautiful, heart-warming love. Their first kiss had me grinning manically, but there's plenty of moments that'll have you reaching for your tissues.
Fran is probably the best friend ever! I'd love for her to have her own book, we see her find her own happiness but I want to see it all from her perspective. She's so supportive, but calls any BS and isn't afraid to tell Gabby the truth even if it's not what she wants to hear. She really deserves her HEA as well, with a horrible past that hasn't diminished her bright and bubbly personality.
Overall, I loved Love Love. It made me smile, it made me cry and Brad and Gabby's romance was a sweet and emotional journey. I'm very impressed, especially for a debut book, and I can't wait to see what Beth Michele has for us next!
